5 Metrics to Track for Your Beginner Marketing Dashboard

You may not be new to marketing, but the idea of using a marketing dashboard could be foreign. But don’t be scared. Don’t let a lack of knowledge keep you away from this game changing tool.

As you setup your beginner marketing dashboard and begin to use it to your advantage, pay close attention to the following five metrics.

1. Email Marketing List GrowthDasheroo data dashboard - list growth

With the opportunity to generate a large return on investment, email marketing should be a big part of what you do.

The size of your list at the present time is not nearly as important as its growth. Use your marketing dashboard to track the growth of your list, striving to increase sign-ups month over month.

And it doesn’t matter what email marketing platform you use, they’ll all give you this data.

2. Social Media Engagement

From Twitter to Facebook to Instagram, there is more to social media than posting updates dasheroo data dashboard: social media engagementand waiting for something good to happen. You need to implement a strategy that boosts engagement.

For instance with Facebook engagement includes:

  • Liked
  • Shared
  • Commented
  • Clicked

Make sure your charts are going up and to the right and if it isn’t dig in and find out why!

3. Google Analytics UsersDasheroo data dashboard: Google Anaytics userss

Traffic, traffic, traffic. A big part of your online success is based on your ability to drive users to your website.

Sync your new marketing dashboard with your Google Analytics account to track users. This shows if your traffic is increasing or decreasing, while also lending data on how visitors are finding your website.

4. Social Media FollowersDasheroo data dashboard: Twitter Followers
Much the same as social media engagement, it’s important to understand how many people are following you on social media. Is your reach growing?

From day to day, from month to month, you can track your number of followers on each social platform. Positive movement is what you are looking for.

5. Ecommerce

Are you selling a product (or products) online? If so, accurate data can be the difference between success and failure. A marketing dashboard can help Dasheroo data dashboard: Ecommerceanswer questions such as:

  • Where are consumers coming from?
  • How much time are consumers spending on your website?
  • How many items are they buying at a time?
  • How much is the average consumer spending?

Whether you use Shopify, Infusionsoft, Hubspot, Stripe or Paypal you can easily access this data!

Experiment and Adjust

Your beginner marketing dashboard will not look the same for long. Once you understand what you can track, once you understand how this impacts your business, you can then begin to make changes.

The most important thing right now is getting started. Sign up for Dasheroo to learn more, it’s free!

New Facebook, Google, Stripe & Instagram Analytics Dashboards

We’ve been on a new release tear. Our Product Managers Nivi and Dharini working closely with our integrations team are on fire pushing out new integrations and insights for you to add to your dashboards and this one is far from a slouch! This time we went back to a few integrations to add more insights to our growing list of metrics we track: Instagram & Facebook Analytics, Google Analytics and Stripe.

Also many thanks to Court, our QA Manager who works tirelessly around the clock testing our code, especially when we have this many releases we’re juggling.

Facebook AnalyticsDasheroo dashboard: Facebook analytics for Reach Impressions

  • Reach broken down by Organic and Paid reach over time – This is great to see if your paid performance does better than your organic, then you can choose how to spend your marketing dollars.
  • Impressions, Reach and Engagement on one insight together – Instead of viewing each by itself it’s great to see them together.
  • Post Consumptions by Type – This insight can provide a measure of engagement beyond traditional engagement metrics such as likes, comments and shares. There are 4 types of consumptions – link clicks, photo views, video plays and other clicks. Other clicks correspond to likes, comments or shares that generate stories.
  • Negative Feedback – The number of times people took a negative action by 4 types – hide clicks, hide all clicks, unlike page, report spam. You can view when you’ve been posting and how often and match if people are ‘dis’ liking your content and act accordingly.

Hashtag Performance

Track your #hashtag performance right in your Dasheroo dashboard.

Instagram Analytics

  • Hashtag Leaderboard – A leaderboard insight consisting of the top 12 hashtags you use based on the engagement to let you know how to use them in the future.
  • Compare Hashtag Performance – Choose and compare up to 5 hashtags (in the last 30 days) based on engagement metrics.
  • Highest Engagement Filters – A bar chart showing the top 5 Instagram filters you use in decreasing order of engagement.

Google Analytics

  • Enhance ‘Top sources by medium’ insight to include email and social sources – we just should had those included, our bad.

Stripe

  • Revenue by product name/product description so you can tell immediately what’s flying off the shelf.

Infusionsoft

  • Failed Transactions – A table that shows the list of failed transactions along with the reason for failure within the given time period.

So what are you waiting for? Get in there and add them to your dashboards!

Oh and I’m off the grid till next week (in Burma!) but on the grid enough that you’ll hear from me. Speaking of, how is it that “Burmese” people live in “Myanmar”? Should they not live in Burma? I sure think so;-)

Track Our Startup: New Insights + Dasheroo Dashboards On the Appexchange

Dasheroo Dashboards on Salesforce AppexchangeThe Dasheroo steam roller keeps rolling! As you know we announced yesterday that we have an app on the Salesforce Appexchange and we’re pretty stoked about it. It gives any Salesforce user the opportunity to stick Dasheroo dashboards in a tab in their account. Pretty cool huh? Get It Now from the Appexchange and if you like us please give us a review!

New Insights for Your Dashboards

We always want to revisit applications we integrate with to see if we need to keep adding to them, especially if our users give us the feedback that they want them. So we did and in a week or so we’ll be adding Facebook, Instagram and Google Analytics along with a Stripe insight to the mix, you’ll be really happy about them.

We got the team together to go over our focus for the next year, get as many users to the site as possible (inexpensively), pay close attention to “who” is using us, follow up with potential high-value contacts and build for the scale of the future. Great questions were asked and we’re marching forward to grow.

I was really excited that the Product Team got together and created a real Product Calendar (and it goes out pretty far!). We’ve got our roadmap nailed for the first quarter at least so it’s a great thing that we all know what we need to work on.

Ink!

Janine wrote a great article you need to read, 12 Great Content Ideas in 12 Months for Inc.com. It’s jam-packed with amazing ideas so check it out. Track Our Startup: New Release! Shopify + Google Analytics Ecommerce Dashboard

Dasheroo's Google Analytics Ecommerce Dashboard

Our own Google Analytics Ecommerce dashboard, get one for yourself!

We’re releasing so many features and integrations so fast we can’t even keep up! Anyhoo, it’s true, we just released Google Analytics Ecommerce and Shopify dashboards to get closer to rounding out a payments/ecommerce dashboard suite (with Stripe and PayPal dashboards already in the wild and Shopify on deck.) We really need your feedback on these integrations if you use these products, we’re always looking at making them better.Dasheroo's footwear choice for Dreamforce: Converse Chuck Taylors, orange of course.

Just 7 short days to Dreamforce (#DF15), Salesforce’s annual event here in San Francisco. If you see someone wearing these Chucks ->, chances are they could be on team Dasheroo so stop us and say hi!

Josh and I are practicing our dry run this week for our demo at 8am (early!) on September 16th, since Dreamforce is free I’m sure you’re all going to be there rooting us on, right? Please? Hello out there?

I just saw Nivi put out a note on Basecamp about a hashtag dashboard, how cool is that?? We still have competitor dashboards we’re working on and Google Campaigns and Goals are in the works. Like I said, gettin’ hard to keep up, our product and engineering teams are awesome!

Alf and Jenny have been working hard at diving into Customer Success to make sure that at every decision point a user has, the path we’re offering them to take, just makes sense. Customer experience is our #1 focus, if that doesn’t work, we won’t be set up for success.

JP and I have been working on a marketing plan for the rest of the year. With so many moving parts we have to nail down who is doing what. Janine has been busy getting some marketing help from people to help us write. This should really help with our SEO efforts.

Finally I’ve been gathering information to start talking to folks about a B-Round investment. Our amazing Series A round folks CloudApps just launched their own company with an oversubscribed round and we need to make ’em proud by going aggressively after a B round which means kicking in the growth machine.

Track Our Startup: Stripe Dashboards + Knee Deep in SEO

We’ve been super-crazy busy these past few weeks. Instead of releasing new features and bug fixes every two weeks we’ve been releasing EVERY WEEK! Our product and engineering groups have been so great at defining and developing the stuff you want, that we want to get it out live ASAP. Last week we told you were were working on iOS and Android apps, and they are still on the way. We submitted our iOS app to Apple last week, so now the ball’s in their court and we’re hoping for a speedy approval. Our Android app is in heavy QA and once we deem it to be ready, that’ll go into a submission process as well.

Dasheroo PayPal dashboardsWhat did we do?

We also told you we had PayPal dashboards ready to go, we’re just waiting on team PayPal to officially “bless” our integration. As soon as they waive their magic wand you’ll be able to see all of your incoming and outgoing payments on one nifty dashboard!

What are we working on?

Dasheroo Stripe billing dashboard

We’ve got a ton of insights for your Stripe dashboards on the way!

Stripe is on the way. On the heels of our PayPal integration we thought we should also give you your very own Stripe dashboard. Stripe is what we use here at Dasheroo for our payments. So you’ll be able to see metrics in a given time period like Revenue, Most Recent Transactions, Refunds and more in one easy to understand place.

We had been working on Alerts but had to pause development for a few weeks.

Alerts will allow you to set a specific value in one of your Dasheroo insight metrics and get sent an email if your performance goes above or below that set value, whichever one you decide. So if you’re looking closely at your Google Sessions and you think it might spike because of an article you just had published you can set a value for if sessions go over 10% of what you normally see in a day. Then you’ll know it’s working! The feature is still on the backlog and we’re about to pick it up again because we think it’s pretty cool.

We’re also getting closer to the beginnings of a competitive dashboard. You’ll be able to track your social media fans and followers alongside whoever you choose as a competitor. Me? I’d stick some RSS feeds on the dashboard as well to keep an eye on what my competitors our putting out their blog. More on that as we get further along.

Working on something special for September to show at Salesforce.com’s annual event Dreamforce. Unfortunately we’re under lock and key for this one but stay tuned, it’s pretty cool.

Marketing

We’ve been working diligently on our search engine optimization so we’re found on page 1 when people are searching specific terms. Here’s what we’re doing:

1. Landing Pages: We’re in the process of creating targeted landing pages that focus on specific keywords. For instance, when we refer to “Google Sheets dashboard” we link it from the blog to our Google Sheets landing page where we talk all about the benefits of Google Sheets. The link has the keywords in it as well (https://www.dasheroo.com/google-sheets-dashboard).

2. Inbound Links: We’re working off of a spreadsheet of sites that make sense to have us on them linking back to our site. The more quality inbound links your site gets the better your rankings in the search engines.

3. Contributed Content: If you’ve noticed, I’ve been writing for business.com while Janine has been writing for Inc.com. That list of publications we contribute to is going to grow in the coming months and you’ll see some great articles on sales, marketing and overall leadership. It’s a ton of fun and Dasheroo gets links from sites that have some great domain authority.

4. Linking Within our Domain: We’re linking between articles on the blog where it makes sense, we’re linking from the blog back to those landing pages and we’re linking between pages on the same domain. Google likes this and it makes sense to drive traffic to other parts of our site.

Back to work time!

People are talking.Dasheroo dashboard of our traffic spike

Dasheroo was mentioned in the Y Combinator run site Hacker News. Hacker News is a social news website focusing on computer science and entrepreneurship. A member of the community thought we were interesting and BAM! We got a ton of traffic to the site and over 300 new users. We sure hope they like what they see and tell us if they don’t! They even alerted us to a scrolling issue on the mobile version of our main website which we fixed right away.

We got 247 pickups on our press release using PRWeb, nice!

New York, here we come.

We’ll be at Market New York at the Javits Center this Thursday May 21st. Swing by and say hi!

Track Our Startup Post Launch: Pricing, Press & People

We got right back into ‘hard at work’ mode after we launched last week. With the new business dashboards launch we gave our users mashups, bundles, dashboard templates, wider date range access, Facebook Ads and email marketing giant Emma insights, whew!

We passed the 2000 user mark and we’re starting to really gain traction with our growing user base! Please tell your friends because advertising gets expensive. PEOPLE ARE EXPENSIVE, however we’d rather spend our money on people working for you rather than ads to get new people.

Up Next?

We’re working on releasing Campaign Monitor and following that up Aweber. A number of users have been requesting these applications so that’s what we’re focused on.

image of Dasheroo's pricing offerUpcoming Pricing

Did you see our upcoming pricing? Get in on the early adopter special and tell your buds about it, it’s a great deal ? That leads us to tell you that we don’t have a billing platform in place yet, but we’re excited to be using Stripe.

We got some great press from our launch and hopefully will continue to:

We’re hiring!

Does it matter where you live? Nope. We do have an office in Austin so if you’re an engineer in the Austin area even better but not necessary. We’re also looking for Product Managers and Sales too.

We’re off to Market New York to show Dasheroo off and get some really great feedback! Great feedback = positive OR negative to us. Stop by we’re at booth #200.
