Twitter Engagement Rate Defined & How To Use It

Engagement is key to your content marketing, and what we consider one of the top metrics to keep an eye on, kind of similar to how we like to look at ‘revenue per email sent’ as a great benchmark index for email marketing efforts.

The Twitter Engagement Rate takes into account the Replies & Retweets of your Tweet to the total number of Followers to date. Then it´s multiplied by 100 as well to provide you with the percentage of your Fan base that´s interacting with your Tweet:

So what? Well, this pretty simple metric tells you how well people are interacting with your content. It’ll vary greatly by industry, so we think it’s best to measure both the quality of your Tweets over time (trending, are you losing appeal or gaining?), and to help determine the type of Tweet content, or time of day that gets the highest engagement. Then do more of that!

How do you use twitter Engagement Rate for your business? Have you seem other formulas? A few consider including Favorites, but the trend seems to only consider Replies & Retweets, at least for now. Let us know!
