Ever forgot your phone at home? Or have it die when you’re out and about and you really need to make that call? Do you have friends? I think most of you will answer ‘yes’ to all of the above!
So we just ran across a cool mobile app (for iOS and Android) that let’s you turn a friend’s phone into yours. It’s called Hotel My Phone and it’ll get you out of those sticky situations above. But not the one about friends….if you don’t have a friend or partner in crime, this app can’t really perform.
Here’s the scenario: You’re out with your best friend, having a frosty beverage. And as most people do when they’re with their BFF, they text other people;) So there you are in the midst of an important text with, say your business partner, and your phone dies. Yipes! Whatdya do? You grab your BFF’s phone (of course they also have downloaded the app), ‘check in’ (log in) and voila! you are back in action. Texting, and even calling, from your phone number, with access to all your contacts! From their phone. What will they think of next?
First, the phone you are ‘checking in to’ must have the app on it. After that it’s simple:
Grab your buddy’s iPhone, log-in and access and call or text anyone in your contact list.
1) Ask nicely to borrow your friend’s phone
2) Log-in with your email address & password
3) Bam! You have access to all your contacts, and can call or text with your own phone number
Pretty slick we think. It’s like an easy insurance policy. And it’s pretty much free. Pretty much meaning texting is free, but calling is ~3¢ per minute. We’d say pretty darn cheap considering this app just bailed you out!
